About CLGTI

Welcome to the Chalimbana Local Government Training Institute (CLGTI), strategically located just 45 kilometers east of Lusaka, Zambia’s capital city. Settled on a sprawling 125-hectare expanse, our institute has a rich history dating back to 1939 when experimental courses were conducted for chiefs by the African Education Department. 

The overall goal is that service delivery and public participation at the local levels are improved according to the provisions of the National Development Plan (NDP) and the Zambian decentralisation policy. The CLGTI has strengthened its ability to build capacity of local authorities by training local authority staff, elected local representatives and chiefs through sustainable utilisation of the improved and extended Chalimbana Local Government Training Institute.
